Mentor Program
Our leadership team at The Joshua Project realized a challenge and a need we had as an organization: the need to do daily life with our clients and the means to do it in without a ministry space. We realized that we could do ministry in the sphere of influence we currently had, which was to begin a mentoring program with the young men we were doing daily life with over lunch. We began offering a weekly mentoring group, hosted at the HUB Community Center with dinner graciously provided! We quickly had a group of 15 young men attending every week. This program has become the heartbeat of our ministry.
Our Program
Our program consists of 4 key pillars:
-
MENTORSHIP - developing meaningful, reliable relationships with mentees focused on guidance and support
-
DISCIPLESHIP - offering curriculum that is Christ-centered, encouraging spiritual growth by defining manhood in accordance with the characteristics of Christ
-
ATHLETICISM - allowing for recreational time, play, and community amongst peers and mentors
-
LIFE SKILLS - providing opportunities to teach necessary skills required to effectively deal with the demands of life centering on trauma-informed therapy, financial skills, work ethic and leadership.
The combination of these pillars greatly impacts consistent class attendance
and life change for our clients.
